Existence of W* is unproven

Pre-Physical Selection & Emergent RealityCh. 03.2, 04.1, 04.2, 04.4, Appendix D.1–D.4

Original criticism

W* = argmax_{W∈𝒲} Ξ(W) is asserted to exist, but no topology or metric is ever constructed on 𝒲, and none of C, S, G, D (the components of Ξ) is given an explicit formula — so continuity or compactness (either of which would suffice for existence) cannot even be checked.

Response & evidence

Downgraded from an implied settled fact to a conditional proposition: IF 𝒲_viable can be given a topology under which it's compact, OR Ξ can be shown coercive under an explicit norm, THEN W* exists. A minimal toy formalization is sketched in the audit's closure supplement, but not built out.
